What is an echocardiogram for?

By means of an ultrasound wave emitter placed on the chest wall, images of different planes of the heart are obtained, assessing the size of the cardiac cavities and their thickness. It makes it possible to discover structural alterations in the heart.

What is an electrocardiogram for?

The electrocardiogram is useful for studying the regularity of the heartbeat, assessing the size and thickness of the heart chambers, detecting damaged areas as a result of an infarction, etc. The electrocardiogram records the electrical impulses of the heart and is performed with the patient at rest.
